Alabama Power
10th Avenue South, Birmingham, Alabama

Under a contract with Alabama Power, So-Deep designated, surveyed and mapped 25,990 feet of existing gas, water, electric, telephone, and cable TV facilities in a seven block, heavily congested downtown area adjacent to the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Included within the project limits were numerous fiber optic ducts privately owned by the University. Gravity sanitary and storm sewers were included as part of our investigation. The rim and invert elevations were determined at each structure and tied to existing project control. Alabama Power used So-Deep's mapping to reduce potential conflicts for the design of transmission electric facilities.

Dominion Power Transmission, Arlington County, Virginia

The project included a corridor for a proposed transmission duct bank between Rosslyn and Clarendon. The project covered approximately 5 miles along Kirkwood Highway, Monroe Street, Fairfax Drive and Washington Boulevard in Arlington County. So-Deep designated, surveyed and mapped (Quality Level "B") over 106,000 linear feet of utilities. After a route was selected for the proposed transmission duct back, we documented Quality Level "A" data at two-hundred and three (203) test holes locations to determine vertical conflicts with the design. The congestion of traffic and utilities, permit requirements and manhole inspection presented unique challenges for our crews.
